    Hijacking in Glen Ellyn XI

Nike And Kaepernick: Business 101 (link) Forbes

"Within hours of airing Nike's "Dream Crazy"ad featuring Kaepernick, two things have happened: more people became divided and Nike generated more revenue. According to multiple reports, Nike's online sales have increased by 31% over a period of just a few days."

    Yep.

Former U.S. commerce secretary, Bill Daley is running for mayor of Chicago, seeking the job long held by his brother and his father. OK.

Just imagine what will happen when he takes a knee to protest the shootings and murders in Chicago! Those gang bangers will run right out and get some Air Jordan’s and stop their senseless violence. That would be a nice reality.

Seems the only ones benefiting from Kaps protests are Kap, Nike and Nike stockholders or did I miss something?

Just a guess here but I am thinking that Kap has done just a little bit more for people around the world than the MAGA trolls who like to sit behind their computers drawing baseless conclusions...

What is the metric that we should look at and realize his protest has affected meaningful, positive change?

If Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, Tyrod Taylor or Dak Prescott that a knee during victory formation after receiving the snap, does the NFL fine them?

Agree, you no longer see incidents where police officers in big cities like Dallas, shoot a young, unarmed black man in his own home, with the NRA then stating that if that black man had a legal gun, which he should have, he could have saved himself. Wait, never mind.

He had the evil weed in his apartment!

Seriously, still can’t believe that has been thrown into the narrative

Searched his apartment but not the officer's...makes sense.

You did miss several things. (1) non-violent protests like this one are directed toward the government/establishment/people in power to bring public attention and hold those in power's feet to the fire. That's what the kneeling was with respect to a matter that involves the actions of the government, namely, police shootings/brutality. I don't think Kap or anyone else suggested that this non-violent protest technique would be effective against street criminals. I think your point is, as long as blacks are shooting blacks, we don't want to hear any complaints from them. (2) regarding the effectiveness of the protests, it is impossible to measure, but one thing that has changed, for good or ill, is that when the cops shoot someone, there will be public attention and scrutiny. That was not the case not too long ago. (3) you haven't really exposed any hypocrisy that an advertisement for a shoe company is intended to sell shoes, and a celebrity endorser receives payment for participation in the ad. But did you actually watch the ad, which features Serena Williams (pre-hissy fit) a girl from Compton who became what she is, and the guy missing a hand who played competitive football, etc.? Yes, it's corporate propaganda designed to increase shoe sales, but you'd have to be heartless to not be a least slightly moved by the ad.

I think Nike made the calculation that they could sacrifice a portion of the angry white middle-aged Republican suburban/rural male market for the attention the add would generate, and I think they bet correctly. But yes, you will not see Depends or Viagra running a campaign like this.

Even with 3 spray applications by the village (one last Thursday), we cannot leave our house after 4 PM and not be swarmed. My son came home from goalkeeper training at ackerman last night and was covered with bites on his back, arms and legs. I do not recall it ever being this bad in my life.

It is time to wave the white flag. The Mosquitoes have won. You can have the outdoors Mosquitoes. I bow to our new Mosquito overlords.

Why are you capitalizing the "M" in mosquito? Article for you from today's paper...

"Mosquitoes are really bugging us, even if experts say they're out in pretty typical numbers. Trap-count data in DuPage County and other areas "is generally what we would expect to see from the extended period of high temperatures and excessive rainfall over the Labor Day weekend," said Laura McGowan, spokesman for Clarke Environmental of St. Charles. "Our numbers are below normal right now," said Michael Szyska, director of the Northwest Mosquito Abatement District based in Wheeling. There has, however, been "a little increase" in the past week."
