I'm wondering what the cost benefit ratio looks like.

Well you'll need to come up with the probability of an injury under the old vs. the new configuration, and a rough estimate for the cost of a human life / limb etc.......

In the end this is for the children, DTM. No price is too much.

    Additional notes of consideration...

The project cost of $2.85M is 80% covered by a Federal Grant.

The former 3 ft wide sidewalk did not meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, new one will.

True cyclists will be on the road pretending they're cars.

(until it suits them to act like pedestrians)

But in either case they'll do it in tight fitting clothes that make them look silly.

The fake stone is not Glen Ellyn Style. Looks like $hit IMO.

I agree that this is horribly tacky.

The 1915 coal mine aesthetic of the old vehicular underpass wasn’t great, but I think I prefer it to a fake stone pattern molded in concrete.

Maybe we can have this on Main Street on the Geische’s development?

...isn't great...you are in luck, the Rainforest Cafe pre-fab faux stone is in addition to the existing 1915 Museum of Science and Industry's coal mine replica underpass.

It looks like drainage pipe at a 90's designed subdivision out in Owsego. Will there be a fountain installed in front of it and a raised letter sign across the top?

I can't find the one entering the subdivision we lived in, but it has a pond and water fountain in front of the sign to hide a big drainage pipe.
