"It's about bringing people to the space and giving strangers a spot to sit next to each other and enjoy a drink together."

To create that sense of togetherness, the furniture inside the establishment includes a 17-foot-long upholstered bench. Chad Hauge co-owns the establishment with his wife, Alicia Hauge, who also serves as director of operations for Common Good. Mike Melazzo is another co-owner.

Common Good is at 560 Crescent Blvd. in downtown Glen Ellyn, across the street from the Metra train station. It is expected to open Sept. 15.

    Yoss, looks like Friday.

Attention cocktail nerds: Common Good opening in downtown Glen Ellyn — Daily Herald

"If you're a cocktail nerd, then you're eagerly awaiting the Friday opening of Common Good in downtown Glen Ellyn. If you're new to craft cocktails and had no idea a centrifuge is actually a bartender's coolest toy, you might think the sophisticated and inventive drinks are a little intimidating.

But the owners of the new cocktail house across from the Metra station want you to check all those kinds of assumptions at the door. "When someone comes in and is like 'I don't know anything about cocktails,' that to me is a very sacred thing," said Mike Melazzo, one of the owners. "It's like you're giving a lot..."

It’s open! Nice space, though small. The bar area reminds me a bit of Vittorios bar area. I looked over the drink menu, it’s very adventurous. The staff was very friendly. I’ll probably stop in tomorrow and actually have a drink, review to follow

I went with a group of friends last night and we all give Common Good a thumbs up. If you’re adventurous and up for trying new libations, this is the place. I had the Sipping Scholar, if you like Old Fashions, you love this drink. Be prepared to study the drink menu and ask questions. I’m not a Mixologist, so I did not recognize most of the ingredients. From what others were telling me, everything was top shelf. There is premium beer and wine available.

The space is really nice. We sat in the back room and we soon found ourselves conversing with other parties in the room. There are snacks available for purchase, I’d like to see more substantial food available and that may come about later. Our server was very nice and did a good job. We were there from 8-10 and it was a good crowd. We all really liked the place and are planning on going on a regular basis. I’m wish the owners well, they clearly have invested a lot of themselves into this place.

Nice to hear...I wish them luck...it's been nice to see how successful Beer Cellar has become, can only hope this for the Common Good folks.
