They'd still be in business if we had increased our funding. It's not their fault we didn't give them enough "incentive" to stay open.

    When is Pete's opening?

Grocery stores generate local sales tax revenue better than most businesses and, while I don't know the details, would be hard pressed to fault village officials for any development incentives granted.

I wanted to like Fresh Market and tried to shop there, but the entry of Mariano's tipped the balance on high end/speciality/interesting vs. can I get toilet paper, cat litter and Drano and the one-stop shopping convenience offered by Mariano's won out for me.

The biggest positive of Fresh Market was the small size that was great when you only needed a few things. Plus, they had great produce and butcher. The $20 weekly dinner packages were also great but overall the prices were high and the place was always empty. Here's hoping for a replacement of something similar like Standard Market or Whole Foods 365 but who knows.

Maybe a mattress store/nail salon combo

Now if Illinois would just legalize recreational marijuana, you could fill that space in no time and increase sales Taco Bell sales

I think, maybe, we need more escape rooms.

I liked Fresh Market, we went there mostly for the $20.00 meals and the butcher. We need more drug stores, someone call Rite Aid!

Not sure if anyone knows the detail offhand, but the Fresh Market space I'm guessing is much smaller than the former Dominicks. Hopefully that makes it a bit more marketable.

Scratch my above post for more escape rooms. What was I thinking? I was reminded that I still have a standing request for a smokey pool hall that serves bad beer.

Maybe a Dead on Arrival question, but anyone know anything about the Custard place on Roosevelt that was supposed to be up and running by Memorial Day?

Enterprise's move across the street was delayed, now that they are out of that space the buildings can be removed and construction started.

    That and a Buona Beef.

Nice! But I'm guessing the owners of Flip's can't be happy about that.
