I'm with Middle. Wizzo took clown creepiness to a new level.

He always seemed out of place, never liked a single skit/appearance of that character. Middle is right, there was a palpable feeling of discomfort.

    We aren't!

But his obit sounds like he was a good guy. I think we'd all have been better off if Bozo had just had Brodien appear on that show instead of Wizzo.

Bobby Hull lived here in Glen Ellyn, so his wife-beating was well known - there are first hand reports. One report has the responder giving Hull a serious verbal beatdown regarding the manliness of being a drunk wife beater. I have to think that his situation was a prominent background talking point for the State Attorney's office later and more modern approach to spousal abuse cases.

As to Wizzo the character, I personally did not mean and did not take Middle or Yoss to mean anything other than bad character that freaked out grade school kids at lunch. The actor had other roles at WGN, and those appearances never had the same effect - it was Wizzo, the clown. Don't read too much into it.

I bought Marshall Brodien’s magic kit back in the 60’s, the only thing I made disappear was the money I paid. It speaks more to my lack of magic acumen.

In circa 1979, I did have that look going on-long hair, porn star mustache, but my unicorn shirt was a warm blue.

Thought for sure that was Doug Henning.
